What does amber smell like?
Amber is warm, sweet and resinous, with a soft, powdery depth that feels cosy against the skin. In perfume it is built mostly from resins like labdanum and benzoin, often rounded out with vanilla and spice, which is what gives amber scents their comforting, golden character.
Is perfume amber made from the fossil?
No. Despite the name, amber in fragrance has nothing to do with the fossilised gemstone. It is an accord, a blend of warm resins, balsams and vanilla created to smell rich and glowing, so no two amber perfumes are ever quite the same.
Do amber perfumes last a long time?
Generally yes. Amber sits in the base of a fragrance, so it tends to project well and linger for hours, which is why these scents come into their own in cooler weather and in the evening. One or two sprays is usually plenty.
Are amber perfumes for men or women?
